Jon and Cindi Hampshire

Jon and Cindi Hampshire work with Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and live in Bunia, in the eastern region of the DRC.  They work with Congolese men and women to translate the Bible into the languages of the different people groups there involving about 50 languages.

Jon serves as the General Director, overseeing the administration of the Bible translation, literacy education, language development, and Scripture promotion work that is going on in the eastern half of the country. Jon and Cindi work with many different denominations in translating the Bible into the “heart languages” of the Congo. In addition to working in finance and serving in the branch bookkeeping office, Cindi serves as the prayer coordinator. The first three months of 2023 saw the dedications of the New Testament in four different languages and Jon and Cindi were able to attend two of the dedication celebrations. They are excited to see many key positions being taken over by the highly qualified  Congolese.
